With a DNA test, subscribers to the music streaming site Spotify will be able to listen to music corresponding to their genetic heritage.
Imagine a saliva test that would give you access to a huge musical repertoire based on your genetic heritage. This scenario is on the verge of becoming reality: The Spotify streaming platform announces a partnership with Ancestry, an American laboratory specialized in free access DNA testing, with the ambition to develop a playlist generator based on the Genetic heritage of the auditor.The objective is unusual: to propose a journey through the musical ramifications of his family tree. In other words, it would be possible to listen to its musical "identity." The Quartz magazine website details the possibilities related to this feature: "You can enter the different ethnic groups and regions that make up your heritage according to the results of your Ancestry laboratory DNA tests. The generator will then select a range of tracks that reflect the original cultures of your ancestors. For example, a person with a Chinese heritage could include the classical musician Wu Fei in his playlist, while a person of Spanish descent could get the rock band Los Sírex. This will "encourage the audience of [Ancestry] to explore the soundtrack of their heritage," said Danielle Lee, Spotify's global partner Solutions manager.
